Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) Events

ABOUT AFAC is an independent, community-based non-profit food pantry that provides dignified access to nutritious supplemental groceries to all our Arlington neighbors in need. We serve approximately 1,350 client families on a weekly basis at twelve distribution sites throughout Arlington County.

Did you know that 15,000 Arlington County residents are food insecure? Join us throughout September to focus on the problem of hunger in our community. www.afac.org/HAM

KICK-OFF EVENT Wednesday, August 31st, 6:30-8:30pm

EAT The following Arlington Restaurants will donate a part of their proceeds to AFAC on these Tuesdays in September:

* September 27th: The Front Page (Ballston)

COLLECT 5 Local Safeway Grocery Stores are allowing AFAC to hold food drives September 10th and 11th from 10am-4pm. Volunteers Needed (Contact: volunteer4afac@afac.org).

SHRED Shred for Bread – an opportunity to bring personal documents to be securely shredded by ProShred in exchange for a food or monetary donation. Saturday, September 17th, 10am-1pm at Arlington Church of the Brethren.

LISTEN In conjunction with Arlington Central Library and Hispanic Heritage Month, bring your kids to this family friendly event to listen to stories and songs about food and nutrition by renowned storyteller Jose-Luis Orozco. Sunday, September 18th at 1:30pm or 3:30pm.
