Reduce motor-vehicle speeding on 7th Road South

Post date: Jun 14, 2012 4:09:26 PM

Hello CHW Residents & Friends

Attached is a diagram of the proposed traffic calming measures for 7th Road south. You can see there are new proposed bump outs that would occupy parking spaces along 7th Rd South. Bump outs will narrow the road and studies have show this helps to reduce motor-vehicle speeding.

7th road south sees 4,157 vehicles per day and according to the counts the County has done, 50% of those cars go faster than the 25 mph posted limit ( in particular between Carlyn Springs and Greenbrier).

There will be an open house, in the fellowship hall of Greenbrier Baptist Church , to vote on the plan next Tuesday, June 19th at 7:30 pm. Only residents on 7th Road South living between ,Carlyn Springs and Greenbrier, can vote. However all CHW residents are encouraged to attend and voice any concerns or learn more about the proposal. Alternatively you are welcomed to reach out to Jsikes@arlingtonva.us with any concerns.

Warm Regards,

Lilly Mancilla
