AHS Partners with WETA for Digital History

Every month, the Arlington Historical Society (AHS) hosts free public programs covering aspects of local history. WETA's Digital Media team interviews the speakers and develops short "Arlington Historical Society Presents" web documentaries as a preview for the public program.

Similar to AHS, a major part of WETA's mission is to serve and educate the local community, and thus the fruitful nature of the partnership. WETA has built a webpage with all of the AHS digital videos posted there. These include episodes covering the Arlington County Fire Department, Little Saigon, Civil Rights activist Joan Mulholland, the experience of Latino immigrants, Civil War contraband camps, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, and the origins of local brewing. These videos can be accessed at: www.weta.org/ahs.

About WETA: WETA Washington, D.C., is one of the largest producing stations of new content for public television, serving Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, with educational initiatives and with high-quality programming. As the leading PBS station in the nation's capital, WETA Television broadcasts on four channels: WETA TV 26, WETA HD, WETA Kids and WETA UK. WETA produces a variety of programming focused on the local community, including series the "WETA Guide," "WETA All Access" and "WETA Around Town" and specials such as "Arlington National Cemetery." WETA's main website, weta.org, and its Boundary Stones blog, weta.org/boundarystones, complement the programming on television with locally-focused articles and web-only video series such as "Arlington Historical Society Presents."

About AHS: The Arlington Historical Society, founded in 1956, is a non-profit organization under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The AHS mission is to help Arlingtonians better understand our community through its history. For more information, please visit www.arlingtonhistoricalsociety.org.
