Psst . . . Are you 50 or older (or shall we say, more mature)? Take advantage of this great lifelong learning opportunity.
Encore Learning, an affiliate of George Mason University, offers its college-level noncredit courses at Founders Hall at the Arlington Campus, among other Arlington locations.
There are no tests, grades, papers or prerequisites and classes are held between the hours of 9:30 am and 4:00 pm. Sound good? The only catch: students must be 50 and over -- part of Mason's commitment to lifelong learning.
The academic courses, ranging from law and public affairs to science and technology to the fine arts, literature and history are taught by an impressive array of instructors including Mason's former provost as well as practicing and retired professors, economists, lawyers, poets, Foreign Service officers, the former head of the NSA and CIA (!) plus a Mason PhD candidate. With 29 courses available, there is something for everyone this fall.
Membership is $55 per year, plus $45 per course. Weekly class sessions run from 90 minutes to two hours for four to 10 weeks within a semester.
