Construction Update: 9th Street Bike Boulevard

9th Street bike boulevard construction

Construction is underway for the Columbia Pike Bike Boulevards - 9th Street South Intersection Improvements project. Improvements at the South Wayne Street and South Adams Street intersections are complete. Crews are currently constructing the improvements at the 9th Street/South Cleveland Street intersection and will finish up at the 9th Street/South Highland Street intersection.

Work is anticipated to be substantially complete in two weeks, weather depending. For additional information, visit the project page.

Construction Update: Washington Gas work

Washington Gas continues their work to relocate the gas main on the west end of Columbia Pike, between Four Mile Run and the Arlington/Fairfax County line. The relocation of the gas main is required prior to the County commencing work on the Columbia Pike Multimodal project. Washington Gas has completed approximately 80 percent of the work and still anticipates completion in fall 2017.

Future night work is anticipated at the signalized intersections of South Dinwiddie Street and South Jefferson Street. Additional updates will be sent once this work is scheduled.

Upon completion of the gas main installation, Washington Gas’s contractor, Northern Pipeline, will begin changing over gas services to adjacent properties. Affected properties will be contacted, in advance, for coordination of the changeovers.

Contractors bidding on Columbia Pike west end multimodal project

The County has released an invitation for contractors to bid on the Columbia Pike Multimodal Project - Four Mile Run to Arlington/Fairfax County line. The work includes utility undergrounding and street improvements. Bid openings are scheduled for Sept. 28.

Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2018, after completion of Washington Gas’ work on the west end. For additional information, visit our project page.
