Community Center News
Patrick Mallon is the NEW Facility Manager for the Arlington Mill Community Center. Patrick was raised in Arlington County and is a graduate of Washington Lee High School. Patrick brings a wealth of DPR experience to this assignment.
Patrick Mallon got his start with the Department of Parks and Recreation as Manager of Yorktown and Wakefield Pools, has worked as the DPR Transportation Coordinator, was Assistant Manager and Manager of the Thomas Jefferson Community Center, and for the past 6 years he has worked as the Manager of the Fairlington Community Center.
Patrick's work as Facility Manager will continue to be supported by the excellent team of Staff whose names are listed in the margin on the left.

Call for Bill Thomas Award Nominations
The Bill Thomas Outstanding Park Service Award was established to pay tribute to lifelong parks volunteer Bill Thomas and to honor and encourage those residents who also demonstrate a passionate dedication and support for our dynamic programs, natural resources and public open spaces. National Youth Congress Internship Opportunity
Teens wanted–to apply for the National Youth Congress internship! Selected teens 14-18 will learn about the parks and recreation field and other service jobs; develop career and leadership skills and gain independence. These internships range from office work to assistance in daycare programs to assisting someone who works in a highly ranked job such as marketing.Applications are due February 9. Fencing Club for High School Students
Join former USA National Team Member and Olympian, Greg Kaidanov, for instruction on beginning fencing as well as advanced competition training and continuing instruction in foil, saber and epee. Fencing is great exercise and extreme fun! Class enrollment includes membership to the Arlington Fencing Club.
