AHC Shell Site

AHC Inc. is an Arlington-based nonprofit developer of affordable housing

celebrating its 35th year in 2011! We are proud to have developed over 3,000 units in Arlington County and have begun plans to develop a new property in the Columbia Heights West neighborhood.

AHC is currently in negotiations to purchase the Shell gas station located at 5511 Columbia Pike, at the corner of Columbia and South Greenbrier. If we are successful in acquiring this property, AHC would assemble the gas station property with a portion of the surrounding property AHC has owned since 1994 - Harvey Hall Apartments.

The proposed development being submitted to Arlington County for consideration is an 83-unit, 6-story mixed-use with ground floor retail along Columbia Pike. The apartments will be available to tenants earning 50% and 60% of the area median income. Building amenities will include on-site management, a community center and underground parking.

The design for the project is within the guidelines of the Columbia Pike Form Based Code. AHC will not be asking for any modifications, special considerations or relief from the Form Based Code.
