ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department is looking for people with language skills that are interested in volunteering to assist police officers on patrol in Arlington County. This is an innovative way to assist your local law enforcement.

We are revitalizing our “Bilingual Ride-a-Long Program” and are looking for additional volunteers.  The Police Department is seeking people who speak a variety of languages including: Spanish, African dialects, French, Mongolian, and Arabic.  According to the most recent census these languages are very prevalent in Arlington County and we want to communicate with many people as possible. This opportunity is available for those who live or work in Arlington County. Volunteers will ride with a patrol officer assigned to a neighborhood but may be called upon to assist with translation and investigations throughout Arlington County.  It only takes 10 hours of commitment a month and the volunteer times are very flexible.

If you are interested in this exciting volunteer opportunity, please contact Sergeant Pilco at 703-228-7482 (office) 571-340-2304 (cell) or via email at epilco@arlingtonva.us for more information.
