(For work between South Jefferson Street and the Four Mile Run Bridge)
Upcoming changes at Dinwiddie bus stop during construction
Later
in June, construction is expected to begin on South Dinwiddie Street
just north of Columbia Pike. The work will include utility, curb and
gutter, sidewalk and roadway construction.
This
will require temporary changes to the bus stop on southbound Dinwiddie
Street next to the Columbia Pike Plaza shopping center. Starting Monday,
June 22, ART buses will not serve this stop. Instead, riders will board
ART buses on Columbia Pike in front of the shopping center. Metrobus
routes will continue to use the Dinwiddie stop. These changes are
expected to be in place for approximately one month.
A
temporary ART bus stop will be added across the street on eastbound
Columbia Pike by the 7-Eleven, providing another option for riders
during this work.
Two-week construction lookahead
The
PDF document below describes construction activities planned for
Monday, June 15 through Sunday, June 28. It also lists expected impacts
including any additional lane closures, driveway impacts and sidewalk
closures.
Items to note:
- Weather
permitting, the sidewalk on the north side of Columbia Pike that is
currently closed between South Dinwiddie Street and the west entrance of
Columbia Pike Plaza shopping center will be reopened on Saturday, June
13.
- If
the reopening of this sidewalk is delayed due to unforeseen reasons,
pedestrians should continue to cross Columbia Pike using crosswalks at
the Columbus/Dinwiddie Street and Frederick Street intersections to
traverse this area.
- The
west entrance of the Columbia Pike Plaza shopping center will be closed
for roadway and driveway construction after the east entrance is
reopened on Monday, June 15.
- Half
of each of the driveway entrances on the north side of Columbia Pike
between South Dinwiddie Street and South Greenbrier Street will be
closed during roadway and driveway construction. Impacted properties
include:
- Key Garden Apartments
- Arbor Heights Apartments
- Palazzo Condominiums
- Greenbrier Apartments
Transit stations construction update
Lane closure at Glebe Road next weekend
Weather
permitting, crews are scheduled to pour concrete for the bus pad at the
westbound Glebe Road station next weekend. The concrete pad will
reinforce the roadway area where buses stop and pull off. This work
requires a weekend-long lane closure.
Starting
after 7 pm on Friday, June 19, the westbound curb lane on Columbia Pike
near Glebe Road will be closed. The lane will remain closed all weekend
and is expected to reopen early Monday morning, June 22. This schedule
is dependent on weather and on the concrete achieving the required
strength.
